PHRYGIA. Apameia. C. Fannius, praetor, 49/8 BC. Cistophorus (Silver, 27 mm, 12.22 g, 12 h), Mantitheos, son of Mantitheos, magistrate. Cista mystica from which snake coils; all within Dionysiac wreath of ivy and fruit. Rev. C FAN PONT P[R] - ΑΠΑ - MΑΝΤΙΘΕΟΣ / MΑΝΤΙΘΕΟ[Υ] Two serpents flanking domed tetrastyle temple surmounted by female cult statue holding patera and scepter; to left, bow; to right, two flutes. Metcalf 478. SNG Copenhagen 159. SNG von Aulock 3464. Stumpf 57. Struck slightly off center and the obverse a bit weak, otherwise, very fine.
